Chiltern Street
It’s interesting giving thought to what life was like three years ago. Many things that we would have not given a second glance, we now consider them to be alien to our daily lives. Such as a going into the office five days a week. The formalities of dressing down in a formal office setting. Or it may be that the normalcy of social occasions are back on full swing. Recently a large corporate law firm here in the UK, decided to adopt a more casual setting to offer employees cheque jumpsuits to work. Not sure how I feel about that one. But, in the end whatever gets people back in, right?
Whatever the circumstance may arise, you must have clothes for it, well I would hope so. If you are looking for a piece highlighting a different flattery, you may need to look elsewhere. Where was my train of thought…Oh yes, I think we all became a little lackadaisical on how we dressed during lockdowns. Why? Well, because we wanted to be comfortable. Now, this paradigm shifts from the regular hustling and bustle world, we were all accustomed too, turned in every which way. It seems more or less, we are now back to normal life, well as normal as it could be with everything going on in the world.
Anyway, why am I saying all of this. I recently received my Chiltern Jacket + Trouser set from my great friends at Hamilton & Hare. I will say this with full confidence, while it is one of the best-looking items in my closet, it is also the most comfortable piece of clothing I own. They are taking a modern approach to suiting from a very traditional atelier in Italy. The 150 year old stable out of Reda family, who prides themselves on sustainability and innovation.
I hate to say it, but traditional suits, which I do love, have been unravelling their threads for years now. Did this shift to the “New Normal” make the final cut to a staple? No. I do not think so, but I do believe that ameliorating a staple is what is needed. And that is what Hamilton and Hare are doing with the Chiltern Suit.
As the French coined the phrase, “Beauty is Pain” well, I can certainly disagree with that statement after taking that step out of the Hamilton and Hare store last week, onto on Chiltern Street. Beauty is comfort. Buy sustainable. Buy Quality. Buy Hamilton and Hare.
